SUPPORTER CULTURE

Supporters are more than just fans, supporters are part of the team. They chant, cheer, jump, and wave banners and flags in order to intimidate the opponent and will the home team to victory. Supporters don't just watch the game, they change the game.

"To win the title, we need the support of the audience. It's really important that the audience supports us. It would be really meaningful to step onto the field with the stadium full. It would be something amazing."

-David Ferreira, 2010 MLS MVP

Supporters Groups come in many shapes and sizes and no "one type" is better than the other.  As a fan you should check out the various styles and see which one suits your idea of support best.

On the one end of the spectrum you have "Ultras" who take their support to extremes with flares, smoke machines, and constant jumping and singing.

Then there are the Family Supporters Groups who sing, chant, wave flags & scarves, but do it with kids in mind by keeping the language clean.

Some Supporters Groups do great TIFO displays and have a real party atmosphere and others think the best way to support our team is to heckle the opposition.

Our Latin contingent, sings all game long and is very similiar to the Ultras of Latin America, adopting many of their songs.

So, it is up to you how you support your team. In the following pages we have examples of our FCD songs and chants as well as a timeline of all the groups FCD has seen come and go over the years.  You will be surprized how many are still active today.
